CLARIAH organises a virtual OpenSoNaR tutorial in the Week van het Nederlands on October 9, 2020 from 14:00 tot 17:00.
OpenSoNar is a web application for searching in the Dutch SoNaR and Spoken Dutch (CGN) corpora. SoNaR contains more than 500 million occurrences of words from written sources in Dutch from the Netherlands and Flanders. The Spoken Dutch Corpus (CGN) is a collection of more than 900 hours of transcribed speech by speakers from the Netherlands and Flanders.
The tutorial will take place online, and will consist of some presentations, followed by exercises in making queries and analysing search results by the participants. The tutorial will be given in Dutch. A team of experts is present to assist the participants. It is a tutorial for beginners and no specific knowledge or expertise is presupposed. The tutorial will not only deal with OpenSoNaR-specific aspects such as the various available interfaces and the composition of the corpora, but also contain an introduction to regular expressions and the Corpus Query Processing Language, which are used in many corpus applications.
Participation is free but registration is mandatory and can be done via https://www.clariah.nl/evenementen/agenda/opensonar-tutorial
Upon registration we will ask about your knowledge and expertise and any interest in specific phenomena (e.g. words, word classes constructions, so that the tutorial can be adapted optimally to the participants.
